Liza Tedesco - General Manager
Liza fell in love with natural foods, herbs, and Co-ops while working as a cashier at People's Co-op in Ocean Beach, CA. In 2001, with her infant daughter in-tow, she joined the Wellness Department here at CNFC. Her expertise, enthusiasm, and motivation took her quickly from a stocker position to buyer to department manager. In July of 2008, when the need arose for an Interim General Manager, Liza stepped up to the challenge. Almost exactly a year later, CNFC was proud to announce her as permanent GM. She views her role as information and idea-exchanger, vision-builder, and "the cheerleader I never was in high school. GO TEAM!" Liza has her degree in Literature with an emphasis in Latin America History and Politics. She has also studied Horticulture, Botany, Field Biology, Entomology, and Human Biology.
Bryan Shaw - Produce Manager
Raised in Red Bluff, CA, Bryan was drawn to Chico by the town's community oriented atmosphere. Enthusiastic about science and plants, he studied biology, botany, ecology, and environmental issues while obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in English. Wanting a job that aligned with his ideals, Bryan began to work as a stocker in CNFC's Produce Department in August of 2005. When the manager position became available in 2007, Bryan quickly applied, excited for the opportunity to make improvements to the department. As a new manager, his first self-assigned tasks were to secure as much local produce as possible and to ensure the quality of all offerings. Now, the goal for his department is to make it the #1 destination in the Chico area for organic produce. Take one look at the department and you will know he is well on his way to success!
In his time away from fruits and vegetables, Bryan likes to hike, mountain bike, paint and draw. He also enjoys music and plays guitar, bass, and drums.
Dylan Tellesen - Membership and Ownership Manager
Artist, designer, teacher, swimming hole explorer, and now marketing director Dylan Tellesen is excited about what the Co-op provides for our community. Dylan has taught graphic design at Butte College, run his own design business, owned an art gallery, exhibited his artwork and painted murals across the United States, and moonlighted as a community activist. He hopes to support and enhance the great work that has been done to date and pledges to use his talents for the forces of good, natural food. Dylan has been living in Chico for the past 13 years with his spirited and beautiful wife Hilary and two fabulous children (Hayes and Marie).
John Campbell - Wellness Manager
While working at another Northern California co-op from 2002-2004, John realized he loves what co-ops stand for. In 2010 he saw the posting for Bulk Buyer here at Chico Natural Foods Co-op and quickly applied. John had been working as the Bulk Buyer for slightly more than a year when the Wellness Manager position became available. Previous to taking the position of Wellness Manager all of his prior experience had been on the Grocery/Bulk side of the business. This position has been both challenging and rewarding for John, he has been learning everything he can about supplements and herbs, as well as the ins and outs of successfully running a department here at CNFC.
John was born and raised in Red Bluff California, growing up in a very outdoor oriented family he learned at an early age the importance of conservation of our wildlife and natural resources. He enjoys almost anything that involves the outdoors; from disc golf and fishing to hiking and camping.
Bethany Hunter - Kitchen Manager
Bethany began cooking at a young age with her mother and grandmother. By middle school she was making dinner for her family of seven on a regular basis. Being raised in Tucson, Arizona, the family cuisine had a southwestern flair. Prickly Pear cactus was harvested for jelly, even holiday meals centered around tamales and homemade salsa. Beth’s first job was as a server at a small café over nineteen years ago. She fell in love with the culinary arts and restaurant business. While traveling through California in 1996, her car broke down in Chico. By the time it was repaired she had decided Chico was where she wanted to be. She worked at a vegetarian restaurant and ended up buying the business with a friend and operating it for almost three years. Upon selling the restaurant in 2003, Beth returned to Arizona and graduated from Scottsdale Culinary Institute with an honors degree in culinary arts. She worked as an executive chef in Tucson, but always dreamed of moving back to Northern California. This dream became a reality in 2010. After years of restaurants and catering, she was hired at Chico Natural Foods Co-op in July of 2012. She aspires to offer delicious entrees focusing on seasonal, local, and healthy ingredients. Her favorite activities are hiking, gardening, reading, and exploring new places, cultures, and cuisines.
Topher Dalton - Grocery Manager
Born in Bellflower, CA, Topher spent much of his life hopping from state to state as the son of a computer contractor, with stops in Illinois, Florida, Texas, Vermont and, most recently, Utah. It was there that he settled for a time and encountered three things that would prove absolutely life altering. He met his gorgeous and awesome wife Amber (who he now has 3 brilliant and beautiful daughters with), he joined the first of what would end up several bands (no big record deals or anything, but hey, it sure was a LOT of fun), and he got his first job in the natural and organic food world (a career arc that would ultimately lead him to our co-op). Having been raised off and on here in the Chico area, due to grandparents that moved to Paradise in 1980, he’s honored and excited to be part of Chico Natural Foods Cooperative and looks forward to bringing to our co-op over 14 years of experience, a strong passion for local, organic and non-GMO foods, and a firm belief that a co-op can make a difference in the world. If you see him in the store, go ahead and say hello, since he’s always up for a classic high-five!
Holly Riggs - Human Resources
Coming from a strong business and Human Resources background, Holly is thrilled to be a part of the CNFC team. Shortly after college, she co-owned a retail electronic store in Washington State, managing the business and finances. Using what she learned from that business, she became a small business counselor and SBA lender for 7 years with experience in writing and processing business plans and loan packages. She then started up and managed Wild Goats Coffee & Cafe in Kent, Ohio in 1996 where much of the food served was organic (based on limited availability) catering to vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike, before selling the business and moving to California in 2003. In 2007, Holly received her MA in Psychology with a focus on Organization Development – not only looking at strategic planning and business systems, but acknowledging the human element as a strong asset of a business. What better place to take that training and put into practice than in co-operative business! She worked in Human Resources at Ukiah Natural Foods and as the Managing/Finance Director of Ukiah Players Theatre before moving to Chico in 2012.
Holly loves spending time with her family, digging into the several flower and vegetable gardens at her house and looks forward to getting involved with (or at the very least just watching) local theatre productions.
